BAY LEAF, Wild: Turkey
(Laurus nobilis) (Laurel leaf) – GRAS -- has been helpful for dyspepsia, flatulence, flu, viral infections, and loss of appetite. The properties are digestive, stomachic, antiseptic, diuretic, and fungicidal. Tonic to kidneys, liver and reproductive system, aids urinary tuberculosis, regulates scanty periods, speeds delivery in childbirth, eases ear infection, lowers blood pressure, assists in sinus infection, headaches and general aches, pains, sprains, arthritis, rheumatism, and toothache. Beneficial for anxiety, fears, morbid states, psychosis, anti-depressant, for problems in expressing and manifesting possibilities, brings fire to one’s life warming the emotions, aids all degenerative psychic pathologies, awareness, gives confidence, courage and pride. The ancient Greek and Romans to crown their victors used bay leaves. It is wonderful to use in cooking (a drop goes a long way) it puts the magic back in a pot of soup or stew. Excellent used in making stuffing and basting a turkey. Bay is relatively non-toxic possible skin irritant. Moderate use is recommended.
